Hi, Folks,

This week was all about

1. Singing:
On the first day of Halloween my monster gave to meeeeee...

A zombie in a old graveyard!

That’s right, no partridges and pear trees around the horrifying Hirsch Academy. These guys like it dark and spooky, which is why 3 of the boys composed their own  version of the old Christmas classic.

THE 13 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN
1st day: A zombie in an old graveyard
2nd day: 2 Gollums groaning
3rd day: 3 creepy cats
4th day: 4 bloody swords
5th day: gory killers
6th day: dead vampires
7th day: fish guts
8th day: stabbing swordfish
9th day: Frankensteins
10th day: Trolls smashing
11th day: screaming corpses
12th day: skeletons
13th day: scorpion men

2. Swimming

Thursday isn’t the only day we like to wade in the water. On Wednesday we took a  dive on the number line. This deep sea math game explored addition, subtraction, negative numbers. Using our underwater animal research from last week, we counted up and down the line to place our critters in their homes.

3. Selling
The Predator Bakery produced our first batch of yumminess on Wednesday afternoon. Buried Treasure Muffins were  fun and oh so delicious. They are super easy, and you can add your own “treasure” to hide inside. We went for sprinkles, chocolate chips and gummy bears.  Try it at home:

Thursday morning was chocolate chip cookie baking, for our gluten free friends. After recess, we displayed our products, worked on a good sales pitch, and opened up shop for business!  Here is one proud shopkeeper displaying our treats:

We had many customers; most of Ms. Tara’s class, teachers, therapists, Ms. Leslie, Ms. Ginny, and even Gabriel’s Grandma Sue! We know everyone enjoyed their purchases and we had a blast figuring out purchase totals, making change, and keeping careful records of our inventory and money. We have yet to count our earnings (because, as we all know, Exciting Activity+Sugary Treats=High Engines ;), but will certainly make it a priority on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Amanda and Erin
