Hi, Folks,
PROUD!
Oliver
and Aidan R. started this puzzle on Monday. 200 pieces! Up until this
week, the biggest puzzle we’d done together was 50 pieces. So when I
dumped all of those pieces out of the box, Oliver and Aidan looked a bit
uncomfortable. That first day, I sat with them and helped out--a lot.
They let me know they were a little frustrated, so we took a break. I
wondered if perhaps I had thrown too much at them at once, and
considered taking a step back to a 100 piece-r. But the next day, the
two of them were rarin’ to have another go at it! They worked on it for
almost an hour on Wednesday and with a little help here and there from
Max and Aidan H., they finished it!! They both claim to be ready for a
5,000 piece puzzle...but I think we’ll try another 200 first. Does
anyone have one at home we can use? It’s tough keeping up with these
puzzle masters!
ASTONISHED!
Our
Mystery Liquid from last week turned out to be a mixture of oil, water
and food coloring. We used these ingredients, plus a little shake of
glitter, to make some GROOVY Lava
lamps. Add some cool lighting and you’d swear you were back in 1977,
only without so much polyester. Put a pinch of salt in and watch it
bubble. So do tell, children, why doesn’t that oil mix with the water?
All of that floating and sinking experimentation helped some of the kids
realize that the oil had to be lighter than the water because it
floated on top. And the salt? Heavier, because it sank to the bottom.
Dude...psychedelic and educational!
THRILLED
That’s
how we felt this week to have Ms. Shelley back! Here she is visiting
with her little delicious peanut, Asa. She started back part time on
Thursday, so if you see her give her a big hug!
Oh, such cuteness!
FUN!!!
Have you ever seen a better looking group?
Have a great weekend!
Amanda and Erin
